H. Park Burford

Park Burford counsels cities and counties in local government work and advocates for individuals and businesses of all sizes in commercial litigation. In addition to representing clients in legal actions, he also provides proactive advice to mitigate their risk and liability in the future. Park is passionate about advising public entities on ways to serve their citizens best. He enjoys helping middle Georgia cities craft beneficial ordinances and shore up their economic development projects.

Long interested in the impact of governments on communities, Park graduated with honors from Valdosta State University with undergraduate degrees in political science and history and served as an intern for the 113th U.S. Congress in the office of Senator Saxby Chambliss. In law school, he received the highest grades in constitutional and local government law and gained a great deal of valuable insight through his externship with the long-serving city attorney of Warner Robins, GA.

Park brings extensive trial and mediation experience to his representation of clients such as insurance companies, construction businesses, laborers, craftspeople, garage shops and mechanics. As well as handling probate work for individuals, he has litigated a variety of cases, from property liability disputes to lawsuits stemming from car accidents. Prior to joining the firm, Park provided counsel in the areas of insurance defense, personal injury, property damage, uninsured motorist, civil rights, wrongful death and qualified and official immunity.

A team-oriented collaborator, Park works well with people from all walks of life. He stays organized and diligently meets deadlines with time to spare while staying in close contact with clients to keep them updated on all developments. Those who are unfamiliar with the legal system and its processes particularly appreciate his ability to communicate clearly and break complex material into simple, understandable terms.

Park avoids combative posturing and prefers to take a level-headed, straightforward approach that, if possible, results in middle-ground solutions both sides find acceptable. He frequently steps in to take over files that have proven problematic for other law firms, a process that often initially includes a clean-start “resetting” of the relationship between the opposing parties.

After Hours

Park enjoys golf, playing the guitar, cycling and collecting and reading books. An enthusiastic booster of his hometown of Macon, GA, he serves his community through history, preservation and music.
