Senator John F. Kennedy practices in the areas of civil litigation, business advice and fiduciary law. With more than three decades of courtroom experience, he has conducted numerous trials in a variety of jurisdictions throughout the state of Georgia, nationwide and overseas.

John handles a wide array of disputes, including complex commercial litigation matters, will and trust issues, tort cases involving significant personal injury, product liability and other claims, and matters in the areas of construction and general business advice. Additionally, the senator acts as outside general counsel for commercial organizations with diverse legal needs, helping them manage and navigate complex disputes and high-stakes litigation. Drawing on his in-depth understanding of the business landscape, he assesses potential pitfalls and devises effective and often creative strategies to address risk proactively.

Over the years John has developed a focus on trustee and fiduciary matters. Judges throughout Georgia routinely call on him to serve as a court-appointed receiver to take over, control and manage assets, including corporations and ongoing commercial entities, in the wake of bankruptcies and other business-disrupting events. Senator Kennedy brings keen insight and energy into the custodial role and a real understanding of the need to recover assets fairly when there has been wrongful conduct.

John listens carefully and communicates effectively by breaking down complicated and arcane subjects into easily understood terms that steer others towards sound, rational decisions. While always polite and professional, he is also a zealous advocate for his clients and strives to protect and further their best interests in every way. In all matters, John acts with unwavering integrity.

In addition to his substantial legal work, Senator Kennedy relishes his role as a public servant. He was elected to the Georgia Senate in 2014 to represent District 18, which encompasses all or part of six counties in the state’s middle region. In the fall of 2022, his colleagues elevated him to President Pro Tempore, the number-one senate leadership position in that legislative body. John also contributes a great deal of his time to community service and is involved with the governing of several charitable and professional organizations.
