Mary Elizabeth “Mimi” Olson focuses her practice on general business litigation, local government law and torts. Clients rely on her to guide them through disputes and provide practical solutions that consider both the legal and the business aspects to achieve their goals.

Mimi is a former Assistant District Attorney for the Coweta Judicial Circuit, Troup County, Georgia where she was in court every day on a variety of criminal prosecution cases, with that history serving as the backbone of the civil litigation advice she provides to clients of the firm. She loves the courtroom experience and is not intimidated to fiercely advocate for her clients by either standing at the podium in front of judge and jury or putting pen to paper to compose the most persuasive argument to achieve her clients’ goals.

The most important thing Mimi does for her client is listen – to truly actively listen not only to ensure her clients feel heard, but also to uncover key legal issues and reveal potential arguments the opposing side might use to make their case. This approach to every case is perfectly aligned with the “Servant Leadership” and “Respect for Others” core values of the firm, and one of the many things that drew Mimi to join the James Bates team.

Mimi embodies a strong servant-leadership mindset, applying it in every area of her life – whether through her dedication to her church, community volunteering, or advocating passionately for her clients.

After Hours

Mimi resides in Macon with her husband and young daughter. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading books on her Kindle, and watching volleyball.

I am hungry to solve problems. I love the nuances of the law, I like the challenge of solving the puzzle, and I want to fight for my clients because their goals are my goals.”
