Brooke P. Newby

Brooke Newby joined James Bates in the firm’s Litigation Group in 2026, bringing a broad range of experience in civil litigation, probate, business law, real estate, and municipal law, with a particular focus on representing governmental entities and handling complex municipal matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Brooke served as in-house counsel for the City of Perry, where she managed litigation defense matters, oversaw real estate acquisitions, prepared and negotiated contracts, and advised city leadership on a variety of legal issues. Throughout her career, she has handled a diverse range of municipal law and litigation matters, providing practical and strategic counsel to clients facing complex legal challenges.

A member of Leadership Georgia’s Class of 2014, Brooke has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to leadership and public service. In 2019, Governor Brian Kemp appointed Brooke to the Judicial Nominating Commission, which recommends candidates to fill vacancies in Georgia’s state, superior, and appellate courts.

After Hours

Brooke lives in Perry with her husband and their two daughters. Outside of her legal practice, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, exercising, and playing mahjong.
