As a certified public accountant, Josh Kautz applies his extensive knowledge of accounting, taxation and finance to support the firm’s lawyers as they counsel clients on issues that arise in an array of areas, including corporate transactions and tax planning, among others. He views his job as providing the legal team with the right insight, information, research or recommendations they need to answer clients’ questions, optimally resolve their problems, and enable them to plan for the future with confidence.

Josh collaborates with attorneys in helping clients sell their business and navigate complex tax planning processes. He brings clarity to matters that involve corporate and partnership structures, estate taxes, estate gift planning, estate administration, asset protection, compliance reporting, and communication with the Internal Revenue Service. Always staying updated on relevant developments, Josh monitors changes in the ever-evolving tax law and financial accounting landscapes so he can help lawyers keep clients compliant.

In addition to the variety of his work, Josh enjoys contributing his problem-solving skills to the firm’s collective effort to provide the highest level of client services possible. With a recognition that many people find financial concepts arcane or difficult to understand, he’s always ready to distill and translate accounting terminology into either legal language or easily understood, everyday terms, as needed.

Prior to joining the firm, Josh gained over a decade of experience working as an analyst in industries such as banking and transportation, which enhances his ability to serve clients today.

After Hours

When not spending time with his family, Josh’s time is occupied by mechanical things. He owns a few German cars and admits he has a bit of an obsession with them. He also enjoys following sports.
