JBBG’s community bank practice group consists of experienced lawyers, all of whom understand community banks and the regulated environment in which community banks operate. Other firm personnel routinely supplement the work of our core community bank service team as dictated by disciplinary needs of particular projects (e.g., litigation, bankruptcy, corporate, employment or environmental).

JBBG represents a significant number of community banks and community bank holding companies throughout Georgia. Our services cover every dimension of activity related to the business of community banks.

We advise financial institutions regarding public offering and private placements, mergers and acquisitions, “going private” transactions, corporate governance, securities compliance, proxy solicitations, shareholder relations and insider trading rules.

Through the firm’s real estate group, we handle commercial, multi-family residential or timberland transactions. We regularly represent financial institutions in real estate related matters including drafting and reviewing loan documents, examining title and issuing title insurance and loan closings.

In addition to our standard commercial loan closing services, we have a robust government-guaranteed loan closing practice (SBA and USDA loans). Because government-guaranteed lending is a specialized type of lending, it is particularly important for those types of loans to be closed by lawyers — like ours — well-versed in the requirements that must be satisfied to preserve the government guaranty for the benefit of the bank.

Over the last several years we have worked extensively to help our community bank clients navigate the unique challenges associated with management and disposition of special assets. Our work in the special asset area includes, without limitation, loan workout services, litigation, mediation, arbitration, OREO management and disposition, loan and loan portfolio sales, foreclosures, confirmations, deficiency actions and dealing with an array of sensitive borrower/guarantor situations.

We have two full-service offices: one in Atlanta and one in Macon. Our dual-platform operation enhances our ability to provide services to community banks throughout Georgia with maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Our attorneys regularly travel the State working with and on behalf of our community bank clients. If we already represent your community bank, thank you for that privilege. If we do not presently represent your community bank, we would welcome the opportunity to be of service.
