John “Jack” Nichols maintains a diverse practice that encompasses litigation, local government law, planning and zoning and receivership work for businesses, banks, municipalities and individuals. Jack advocates for clients in many types of cases, including those involving estate disputes, and he also handles matters before planning and zoning boards and county and municipal associations.
Jack works with business owners, financial institutions and courts around the state in receivership matters. He assists them in preserving and protecting assets, overseeing the operations of ongoing businesses, managing real and personal property holdings, and liquidating assets for dissolved or dissolving entities. He functions as an outside general counsel for several clients and guides them in many areas, including navigating government regulations and red tape. He enjoys partnering with these companies to resolve problems and devise ways to run the businesses more efficiently and profitably.
In recent years, Jack has been doing a good deal of city attorney work for small towns in Central Georgia. As someone who grew up in a rural area, he finds it rewarding to help these often- overlooked locales, which grapple with many of the same issues and problems that big cities encounter.
Jack places a priority on responsiveness and the ability to complete work in a timely manner. He brings to his practice broad experience in several legal arenas and in local, state and federal government, knowledge of how public agencies function, and a wide professional network. Jack treats his clients like he’d want to be treated. That includes always being candid and telling them what they need to hear.
Prior to starting private practice, Jack served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps and in the Georgia Army National Guard.
After Hours
Jack’s family is his primary interest, and he likes to spend time with his wife and children. He is very involved in his church and also follows sports, particularly football.
